Tomasu
Brewed in Rotterdam, harvested in the Hoeksche Waard
Tomasu's soy sauce is the first and only soy sauce brewed in Europe. In the Hoeksche Waard, near Rotterdam, Thomas (Tomasu!), Piet, Jeroen and Bert grow their own soybeans and wheat on living, nutritious soil. To do this, they work with nature and constantly seek a healthy balance. Their soy sauce is created through a process of more than three years - from soil to bottle - where every detail counts.
It's all about time, attention and curiosity. Their soy sauce ferments for at least 24 months in former American oak whiskey barrels. The result is a rich, layered flavor full of depth and character; proof that time and craftsmanship make all the difference. Everything is done autonomously, with their own hands and as locally as possible.
Meanwhile, the assortment consists of various types of soy sauce and other products based on it; such as a great tasting sambal, with fermented Madam Jeanette peppers from our own greenhouses of Dutch Wasabi! Experiments and limited edition products also appear regularly.
Tomasu believes in teamwork and true personal commitment. In addition, they continue to learn, experiment and are not afraid to make mistakes; because that is exactly what brings them further. Quality always comes first, but growth is just as much a part of it. With respect for tradition and their own vision, they continue to build every day. Not because they have to, but because they enjoy it. Because at Tomasu, fun always wins out over cleverness.
Every drop tells a story of dedication, taste and love for nature. We share that same passion for taste, craftsmanship and origin: where Tomasu grows soy and wheat for soy sauce, we grow fresh wasabi - another special Asian ingredient, but from Dutch soil. Together we bring the essence of Asian cuisine closer, with products that show what is possible when you combine love of taste with local craft.
